HALLUCINATOR – Another Cruel Dimension

Don't let the cover mislead you: this is not some kind of deathcore, but an evil cavernous thrash from California. The music leaves quite an interesting impression. On the one hand, this is an ancient evil that exists somewhere between NUNSLAUGHTER, AURA NOIR, bands like DEATH YELL and PERVERSOR, and even NECROVORE. On the other hand, the compositions consist of a lot of rather sharp and short fragments, which gives the music a slightly punky character. I'm not sure if I like it, but it's not a bad album. The CD edition contains not only the album, but also 2021' EP and the 2015' demo.
TENSION – Decay

German Heavy Metal. In the line-up, this band had members of FIRMAMENT - a formation that I recently criticized for being too soft. TENSION is a little heavier, but also very melodic. Their music is closer to DIAMOND HEAD and SATAN than to IRON MAIDEN. So again, it's not my cup of tea, but I can't help but praise the guitarists and the bassist who played a lot of cool pieces. Literally in every track there are places that are worth listening to.
REAPER – Viridian Inferno

Australian dashing black thrash in the name of Satan. All the participants come from the punk scene, which instantly made me cautios, but, I give it my due, there are only tiny metaphorical hints of extremely important and stunningly interesting social messages on the album. Mostly everything here is as it should be: Armageddon, rivers of blood, mountains of corpses and armies of demons from hell. Unfortunately, all the music is built either on a medium tempo or on blast beats, so after a while it becomes a bit tedious. Punks are punks after all. But in terms of the apocalyptic atmosphere, the Australians coped.
SUFFERING SIGHTS – When Sanity Becomes Insanity

“One of the best-kept secrets in the forever-burning Chilean underground…” FUCK YOU!!!! I swear on my life, every time I see another piece about the "best-kept secret", I want to squeeze the neck of the imbecile who wrote it with both hands and squeeze it until the sauce flows. Maybe then others will learn not to write this shit anymore, especially if we are talking about good bands from the fantastic country of Chile.
"When Sanity Becomes Insanity" is a cold Death Metal with an effort at intellectual content, which can be compared with albums of that era when the genre was already moving towards high technicality, but has not yet completely parted with thrash roots. The nearest landmarks are POSSESSED, DEATH, PESTILENCE. As always, Chileans offer an authentic sound and a huge respect for aesthetics. In my opinion, the weak side of the album is that the songs are a little one-dimensional, as if they were recorded for one guitar. Aside from that, everything is fine. The Chilean treasury of precious metal continues to be replenished.
GRAVE DESECRATOR – Immundissime Spiritus

Mighty Brazilians GRAVE DESECRATOR were confidently moving to success, in 2016 they climbed all the way to Season Of Mist and released a strong album “Dust to Lust" there. Unfortunately, almost immediately after that, for some reason, the band was put on ice, and unexpectedly returned only in 2023, this time with the help of three little-known labels at once. The event is certainly positive, but, unfortunately, the band has lost something over the years. On the surface, his music is still the same quintessence of Brazilian extreme metal, where the legacy of SEPULTURA, SARCÓFAGO, VULCANO, HOLOCAUSTO, etc. is brought to a single smooth form. Frenzied speed, angry vocals with echo effect, familiar style - everything is in place. But something important is missing inside, some kind of lead rod that gave the previous GRAVE DESECRATOR albums a unique solemnity and maturity. The "unclean spirit" has disappeared, leaving only emptiness.
