Heavy Steeler thoroughly worked on his second album during the pandemic, sitting in isolation. Thanks to a lot of free time, he created a whole concetual story about the world called Aktares, which spread to all 8 tracks (spoiler: Aktares will fall in the finale!). Probably because of this, the album was simply bound to turn out to be more epic and monotonous than the debut.
This is how it turned out, which, unfortunately, is not always good. Although the style of music has remained somewhat unchanged, DIABOLIC NIGHT now does not allow itself liberties like "Sovereign of Doom" or "Infernal Power" anymore. The tempo of performance has dropped by about a quarter, and the whole album is imbued with some kind of tense, gloomy feeling of a sad ending, which I have already spoiled for you. Previously, DIABOLIC NIGHT had first of all spiritual, and then musical similarities with bands like KAT and VULCANO, but now, because of all these seemingly small changes, it has made a step towards more standard German metal. A renewed sound has something to do with it - it became louder and more explosive compared to the debut.
So that you don't get it wrong, the album is still powerful, and in the climactic moments with sudden synthetized orchestrations, it sounds simply fantastic. However, the direction chosen by the project raises concerns about the identity of DIABOLIC NIGHT. I am convinced that the magical ancient speed metal from Heavy Steeler is much more valuable than this epic conceptual metal that we hear on ”Beneath The Crimson Prophecy".
