The second recording of the mysterious group NIAISNY got to me, and although I already gave the news about it on my Telegram channel, it is, of course, necessary to make a review. The review of the debut record is still in the archive and has not yet been added to the new site, so it won't be a big deal if I repeat some maxims.
So, when creating the band, the NIAISNY musicians had a goal to play something in the direction of BBH, but, in my opinion, it didn't quite work out. The first record was mostly generalized Eastern European atmospheric metal in the vein of HATE FOREST, WALKNUT, YGG, KRAHNHOLM, only with Krywian flavour. The new record brings the band a little closer to the original goal through a confident step forward in all aspects, although the similarity with BBH still remains more spiritual than musical.
But it's not bad. BBH clones are good when the band doesn't have the potential for something bigger. NIAISNY has this potential. Already at "Zastyły miesiac" it was clear that this is an original and skillful band. During my practice as a music reviewer, I have seen hundreds of press releases about how this or that band offers a “fresh look” at a certain genre, although in fact there was about as much freshness as between the toes of a soldier who spent three weeks in a trench. But NIAISNY, without any press releases, quietly and imperceptibly, do just that - demonstrate their fresh look at the characteristic atmospheric metal of the Eastern European region. Although it is possible and necessary to draw parallels with the above-mentioned groups, NIAISNY is something completely different, something of its own; an independent unit working in a familiar field according to a system created by themselves.
Let's add that the band sounds and plays much better now. This is the case when you get pleasure not only from the general feeling created by the music, but also from very specific things like guitar riffs or solos. Yes, there are solos here. Especially noteworthy one is on the last track; it sounds as if it was played by Damien T.G. of early STIELAS STORHETT times. If the first recording was definitely a demo, then the new one is more or less is an album.
Like the debut, ”U zmroku I cieniu śmiarotnym" was released only on cassettes. There is almost nothing inside again, but by indirect signs we can say that the band has turned to a darker themes, and this is probably Black Metal already. Take a closer look on a video.
