Well, I didn't expect GOUGE to return after 11 years of silence. In 2012 and 2015, GOUGE (created by members of such wonderful Norwegian acts as AVMAKT, FLIGHT, BLACK VIPER, and BLACK MAGIC) threw onto the scene two pieces of smelly, dirty, and vomitous death grind in the primitive traditions of REPULSION and IMPETIGO. Although I'm hardly a fan of the grind approach, I love the nasty and frenzy grindy sound in metal, especially when someone is burping into a microphone at the same time. GOUGE was just about that, and I promoted them in every possible way for my readers and friends. Unfortunately, few people liked the refined nature of GOUGE. I remember that their album was constantly on Hells Headbangers shop in the \"sale\" section for $3, and maybe some copies are left unsold to this day. This is the fate of many genuine works!<\/p>\n

But in the spring of 2026, I came across a promo for a new mini album. And I'll tell you that it's almost the same old GOUGE. They're a little more metallic now, as the sound has improved, and there's some dynamics in the parts. But in fact it's still grindcore mixed with fierce primitive trash a-la early SLAUGHTER. A few slow fragments, of course, spoil the overall impression, but only slightly. For comparison, the mini album \"Doomed to Death\", which was previously released only on vinyl and cassettes, was added to the CD version, so you can verify the truth of my words right away. Well, you must agree, two GOUGE EPs on one disc is like getting two buckets of hot pigswill instead of one! Beneficial and satisfying! Hopefully, on the second run, the Norwegians will be able to get a little higher and attract more attention to themselves.<\/p>\n
