The sudden announcement and release of AVMAKT's debut album on Peaceville is perhaps the first attempt in many years to offer something worthwhile within the framework of Norwegian Black Metal. The audience on the Internet instantly formed its opinion contained in a single phrase: \"More DARKTHRONE than DARKTHRONE itself\". And I totally agree with that.<\/p>\n

\u201cSatanic Inversion of....\" is difficult to call simply a sincere follower of DARKTHRONE, since it is<\/em> DARKTHRONE, only played by other people. Not by just someone, but by members of the magnificent underground bands BLACK VIPER, BLACK MAGIC, OBLITERATION, FLIGHT. One of them also played in GOUGE, a wonderful but terribly underrated grindcore duo that released their two records through Hells Headbangers. Looking at the above-mentioned bands, you can understand that the guys from AVMAKT know perfectly how to take the best from different genres of music from past eras and embody something of their own on their basis - by no means new or original, but lively and nostalgic.On \"Satanic Inversion of....\" it turned out brilliantly, as it sounds like a lost album recorded somewhere between \"Panzerfaust\" and \u201dRavishing Grimness\". If you play it to an unconscious DARKTHRONE fan and tell him that DARKTHRONE have finally decided to return to their old Black Metal, he will not notice the catch. The similarity is almost perfect, minus the minor differences in vocals and maybe too smooth, as for DARKTHRONE, performance.<\/p>\n

Is it good that there are such groups that simply repeat their inspirers? Probably not, because you always want more originality, which is why I gave the album 8 out of 10 points. On the other hand, let's not kid ourselves: hundreds of bands in this world would willingly record something like this if they had the talent. Therefore, if you don't care about originality, but simply want a little more of the old DARKTHRONE, be sure to listen to AVMAKT.<\/p>\n
