I've been listening to the Finnish NATTFOG many years ago, when I acquired their split with NEKROKRIST SS. I don\u2019t have any memories of what I\u2019ve listened to, so this new compilation became a pleasant surprise for me. \u201cPohjan porteilta\u201d consists of three new songs, two re-recorded, and from the material from the latest EP \"Y\u00f6n varjoista...\". In fact, all the songs from this compilation are so close in spirit and sound that \u201cPohjan porteilta\u201d can be regarded as a full-length album.<\/p>\n

NATTFOG's music on this release is a special, nostalgic form of metal that was extremely popular in the right-wing pagan circles in the first decade of the 2000s. The rhythm of the main riffs immediately refers to ISENGARD and BURZUM (obviously!). Atmospheric guitar solos and melancholy - to BILSKIRNIR. Also, music is often diluted by synthesizer, organ (no dimmuborgir bullshit, of course) and folk instruments. This is quite typical for the Finnish near-right scene, but NATFFOG, unlike the others, retain the same mood throughout the album. How many good recordings of this kind in my memory were tainted by attempts to dilute the material with devilish tremolo! NATTFOG, fortunately, has a sense of measure and taste, so \"Pohjan Porteilta\" has an enviable purity of style. I got nothing more to add - great work!<\/p>\n
