After I read my review of the previous NILE album, I almost decided to move the review of the new album to Blitz, because I don't like to repeat myself. Indeed, I can make the same claims about "The Underworld Awaits Us All", as well as praise the same positive aspects. But I have to admit that this album turned out better in all parts.
For example, there are strong songs here. They might not be as strong as they used to be, but most of the tracks attract attention with some interesting solutions. Ironically, the track chosen for the video clip about what to do so that you are not forced to hang upside down on a stake and eat the shit of four monkeys is pretty dull - this is a fairly standard demonstration of all the components that make up NILE songs, nothing more. There was a change in the line-up again: a second guitarist appeared, as well as a new bassist, and not just anyone, but Vadim Von from MORBID ANGEL. Again, there were a million guest vocalists on the album, which this time gave the sound a variety and juiciness that was sorely lacking on “Vile Nilotic Rites”. Even where the music is not impressive, the new album sounds aggressive, fiery, and frisky. The vocalist began to sound much closer to Dallas Toller-Wade, and this is only good.
In terms of lyrics and physical edition, I can only repeat what I wrote 5 years ago: 28 pages, a 6-panel digipak, very rich artwork and exciting explanations for each song from Karl Sanders. It was so intense that the video I made did not fit into the 1 minute limit. So take my word for it. It's just a pity that the album was released by the faggot company Napalm Records.
For a record released on the 30th anniversary of such a significant band, "The Underworld Awaits Us All" is a little weak. But compared to the previous album, this is a step forward and almost the level of "Ithyphallic". Maybe next time something really grandiose will turn out.
