It's been a long time since I reviewed decent Death Metal, and that's actually because decent Death Metal is quite rare today. As often happens, I was a little late with the review of SNĚŤ, although I listened to the album much earlier than the regulars of social networks, two and a half months ago. SNĚŤ is a new Czech band and this is their debut album, but it sounds incredibly mature and solid. Music, which has picked up ideas from all corners of the genre, somehow manages to be not just cool and right, but even a little bit original. It has a viscous vibe in the vein of INCANTATION and AUTOPSY, but doesn't stop there, offering cool compositional ideas and dynamics. In one place, the band builds up the tension with a monotonous mid-tempo riff, in another it accelerates and turns into an elegant MORBID ANGEL, in the third it gives a dashing zombie punk. There are buzzing solos, references to thrash metal, various legendary bands of American and European Death Metal from different eras... and more. Czechs manage to tie this mess together, never faking it. This album is very exciting to listen to, and at the same time there is no feeling that its diversity is explained by the desire to just play around and look cool. Everything sounds monolithic and is subordinated to a common goal: to create true Metal of Death. Total recommendations!
