VITRIOL – Chrysalis
Year of release: 2019
Label: Iron Bonehead Productions
Rating: 5 / 10
Quite difficult to evaluate this mini-album from a German duo. On the one hand, the group copes with its task - to perform chaotic dark metal about mysticism and alchemy. On the other hand, it seems to me that VITRIOL is simply throwing dust in the listener's eyes, giving off their set of incoherent near-musical constructions as a kind of occult work. Perhaps these people are really knowledgeable in matters that their work tells about, but I do not believe their music.
SEAX – Fallout Rituals
Year of release: 2019
Label: Shadow Kingdom Records
Rating: 7 / 10
Speed Metal from the chamber of weights and measures. Invigorating music, the right sound, songs about all kinds of funny nonsense, and all the participants seemed to have just left the old-school gay bar, which still remembers the visits of young Rob Halford. Everything performed really fast and dynamic, as it should be. Weak sides - disgusting falsetto of the vocalist... and the feeling that the music is a little too neat.
VIGILANCE – Enter the Endless Abyss
Year of release: 2019
Label: Dying Victims Productions
Rating: 6,7 / 10
Good mid-tempo Heavy Metal with bad vocals and unkind songs about black Kolovrat. The music does not leave any special impressions, but the sound is simply gorgeous, especially the bass guitar. Recommended for fans of KAT and VENOM.
K.F.R. – L’enfer à sa source
Year of release: 2019
Label: Purity Through Fire
Rating: no rating
A new album from the famous French artist Massimo Taccardi, who is known for drawing the paintings with his own blood. I do not presume to make any judgments about it, since the album is clearly fraught with forces and matters that are inaccessible not only to my understanding, but generally to any listener, except the author himself. In form it is a very crude and primitive metal with cavernous sound, devoid of even a hint of harmony. The closest analogue is the dirtiest creations of the Black Legions. Drums played with using of human bones. Extremely negative, fearsome music.
SPIKER – Heavy Metal Macht
Year of release: 2019
Label: Dying Victims Productions
Rating: 6 / 10
From pitch black fucked up shit to frivolous Heavy again. Debut EP from the German band SPIKER offers quite melodic, rhythmic and lightweight material about metal-rock and warlike stuff. As usual with Dying Victims, the sound of the release is excellent, but listening to this is completely optional. The band, although possessing good playing skills, clearly does not have any ambitions, and most likely will break up in five years. For those who are obsessed with nostalgia for the 80s, I advise to give it a try. It is quite possible to chew and swallow without choking.
