Review: DECEASED – Cavader Traditions

Year of release: 2015
Label: Hells Headbangers Records
Rating: 7 / 10

Another, in addition to demos compilation, release of DECEASED that I liked. “Cadaver Traditions” is a two-disc collection of covers. It contains two previously released smaller collections, as well as 17 additional unreleased tracks. In total, 54 songs were placed on the discs, which, of course, makes you a bit crazy. There is a bunch of classic metal and hardcore bands who have been covered: SLAYER, VENOM, IRON MAIDEN, SAXON, IMPETIGO, KREATOR, SODOM, AGNOSTIC FRONT, CRO-MAGS, VOIVOD, D.R.I., RAVEN... tired of listing. Almost all covers have one important property: they respect the originals, not trying to distort them with the “author's vision” and other heretical bullshit. These are just high-quality replays, performed in the characteristic Death / Thrash / Heavy Metal-style of DECEASED. The sound of Americans is very clean and well-produced, which in this case is beneficial. As is usually the case with old masterpieces: you love them for the atmosphere, without particularly delving into what the instruments do. And covers in modern sound draw your attention directly to the work of guitars, bass, drums and so on. For example, thanks to “Future of the Past II - Hell in the East” of VADER, I realized how cool the old Polish death metal bands played. DECEASED covers, of course, have no such effect, since I already know most of the selected songs along and across, but it's still interesting to study them. Great release!
