After the immensely dull and mousy "Forged in Fury" I've been almost disappointed in KRISIUN. It is known that after going over to large labels with a set schedule of work, Fathers often forget about creativity, constantly touring or slowly immersing into the shadow of personal problems. And when it's time to write an album, they squeeze a couple of good riffs, fill the space between them with hollow shit, and go on. Old age comes unnoticed, interesting ideas are getting smaller, pauses between albums are increasing ... a similar process of degradation is already observed even in DEICIDE and MALEVOLENT CREATION, and surely not far off the day when SINISTER, SUFFOCATION, INCANTATION will fall... being pursued by such gloomy thoughts, I didn't planned to listen to new KRISIUN album, but it's good that curiosity has taken over. The Brazilians took into account all the mistakes they made on the previous album and recorded an excellent work! Scourge of the Enthroned" is a frenzied high-speed classic a la "Conquerors of Armageddon", combined with slow passages "Forged in Fury" (which you can hear only 1-2 times per song - just as much as necessary) and multiplied by the increased composers' mastery. For a long time KRISIUN had troubles with making songs . From the first days, the band amazed with its power and speed, pleased with the behavior and firmness of convictions, but only on "AssassiNation" - the seventh (!) full-length album - they have finally learned how to compose hit songs. The fans were so impressed that many just hated the album. In the future, the degree of hits was somewhat reduced, but KRISIUN never again played a continuous blast beat throughout 10 songs. "Scourge of the Enthroned" has a very correct, old school approach to creating compositions. They cling precisely to their structure, and not to "hey-hey-ho" screaming or unnecessary melodic fragments. If we talk about Death Metal from a purely musical point of view, then "Scourge of the Enthroned" is terribly close to perfection. As for the texts, here is a familiar hodgepodge of anti-Christian motifs, grandiose images and all kinds of fiction (Nibiru and Annunaki in the kit). This album is definitely the best work of the Fathers in 2018 at the moment. If the new DEICIDE I take only for the sake of the collection, then I will listen to the new KRISIUN record many times from now on.
