I know WOEBEGONE OBSCURE thanks to the mini-album "Deathscape MMXIV", which, if I do not confuse it with something else, I did not like at all. The Forestroamer", however, draws attention already with it's cover that immediately revives the memories of the delightful horror film "Ritual," based on the novel by Adam Nevill. The band says that it explores some new musical horizons on the album, and also spills out what has accumulated in the hearts of the musicians in recent years. s it turned out, in their hearts there was a gloomy death doom metal with a funeral tinge. It's quite simple to understand why this music attracted the attention of Aesthetic Death: it is very rich on unexpected moves. More precisely, it is generally unpredictable. Only the general mood and sound are stable. Everything else constantly flares up and dies, crosses, floats and sinks: ultra-slow, medium and fast tempos, various guitar, bass and drum techniques, primitive tribal tunes, cold acoustics and semi-acoustics, ominous keyboard passages and samples, grim growling and solemn pure vocals. The album seems to expand in all directions at once, like a root of the large tree. Because of this, it is difficult to perceive even with several attempts, and with the first attempt it's completely impossible. But if you decide to make a trip in this unfriendly boundless forest, at the end of the road you can expect amazing treasures... or the cold emptiness of nothingness.
