I bring to your attention another wonderful release from the most metal country in the world. The young SEPULCRUM band plays Death Metal on their debut album, and of course it will be 100% proper Death Metal, which, although relying on classics, is truly independent.
Within the strict limits of the style, SEPULCRUM music has almost no boundaries. The group does not quote any of the world-famous legends and does not adhere to any single scheme. During one track, the situation can change 5-6 times - from slow, dragging bile-squeezing stuff to bloody madness, and this will be a transit through a solid mid tempo a la DEICIDE and angular guitar-drum combinations in the style of MORBID ANGEL. I repeat, this is not a quotation, but only a stylistic similarity. Perhaps these guys unwittingly quote only one band - but that is most likely a matter of national identity. When SEPULCRUM accelerates to super-speed, and the vocalist begins to spit out words with the strong echo effect, their sound immediately turns into PERVERSOR.
It is clear that other components are also worked out properly. The lyrics are absolutely traditional: about death in various forms. The sound is at the same time clear, mystical and natural – as it should be. The visual design is also traditional. You can close your eyes and poke this band with your finger until the end of days, trying to find a weak spot, but you won't succeed. The only thing they lack is one or two hit tracks that could become the band's business cards. I don't know if these Chileans will be able to write them on future albums, but I sincerely wish them success!
