Review: HAUNT – Burst into Flame

Year of release: 2018
Label: Shadow Kingdom Records
Rating: 7,4 / 10

Another young band that loves old eternal music, in Shadow Kingdom Records roster. HAUNT from the USA performs absolutely classic Heavy Metal. They do it very well. For once! Unlike all my favorite new (and old) heavy bands, following the road IRON MAIDEN and JUDAS PRIEST, HAUNT chose a more "rocky" path, working in the spirit of ANGEL WITCH, DIAMOND HEAD, SATAN, SAXON etc. Strange as it may seem, they managed to do it right, without slipping into poor pop cotton candy. However, from "Burst into Flame" it's melodic, but it's purely metallic melody. It's nice to listen and study - both from a purely technical and from a imaginative-emotional perspective. Even slow themes are quite saturated and atmospheric, thanks to the beautiful solo and booming bass sound. Basically, the group keeps the average pace, and only the title theme is really fast. Of course, I would like more rapid things, but in this case I will not reproach musicians for their decisions because they are able to provide outstanding music at any speed and height. I only vilify the vocals which, even if done in classic way, are little annoying with it's timbre. Probably, this is purely a matter of taste.
