DOOMED – 6 Anti-Odes to Life

German project DOOMED for seven years of existence has already released six full-length albums, and five of them came out on the revered doom metal giant Solitude Productions. "6 Anti-Odes ot Life", sixth album from DOOMED, is also the first release I listen to from this project. Acquaintance, I must say, is ambiguous. The project demonstrates a wealth of creative solutions, performing generally interesting mix of Death Doom Metal with post-metal, but the music lacks wholeness and culmination. In most cases, huge songs simply line up in a flat wall brick by brick, and only at the very end of it the band places a flag that marks the peak point. Therefore, "6 Anti-Odes to Life" is rather boring, not deserving a score exceeding the number in its title.
AUTARCIE – Sequania

The sixth album from the French duo. There are all the stereotypes coming to mind: corpse paint, black jackets and claims to be Black Metal while the texts are about the nature and charms of country life, melodic sound with elements of folk metal, pastoral cover. Although I wholeheartedly support the spiritualized suburban existence (which, incidentally, has nothing to do with Black Metal), it is rather difficult for me to support the band and the album. "Sequania" is boring, predictable and disgustingly melodic. There are plenty of bright spots on it, yet it does not deserve many listenings. Not the best work for promoting good basic values.
MEDIEVAL DEMON – Medieval Necromancy

Since the release of the previous full format of the Greeks MEDIEVAL DEMON, a new generation of listeners appeared in this world. What else top say, I myself went to the second grade of the school in 1998, without even knowing about the existence of any metal there, and even more so of black metal. But MEDIEVAL DEMON still lives and breathes! The recording suits its name well enough: if you do not take into account a fairly clean (but completely live!) sound, it's a real antiquity, stinking with the spirit of abandoned dungeons, where monstrous bloody rituals were held in ancient times. Sinister synths also presented. A characteristic Greek manner, inherent in the old NECROMANTIA or VARATHRON, is also found in MEDIEVAL DEMON, but I'm pleased to note that their music sounds much more consistent and serious. Great work, worthy of all praise and support!
SEPULCHER – Panoptic Horror

These guys trying to play ENTOMBED in thrash metal style with punky vocals. As a consequence, the guitars lack a distortion, which makes the whole thing senseless, and this screaming voice is just wrong. You can listen to this album for the sake of vigorous rhythms, but it's not necessarily.
THE TRUE WERWOLF / DRUADAN FOREST – The True Werwolf / Druadan Forest

This split of two Finnish projects (the first project created by the leader of SATANIC WARMASTER, who is also the publisher of this disc) consists of two more than 20-minute compositions in the spirit of the old synth ambient music - one track from each project. I really love old synth stuff, but I did not really like the track from TTW. For the most part, it revolves around the same not-so-good melody that brings boredom. Of course, the composition contains a misanthropic funeral message to the whole world, but it would be possible to furnish everything somehow more cheerfully. Track from DRUADAN FOREST, telling about the ascent of a musician to a lonely cold mountain, is much better. Actually, it makes all this release worthy. Most of all, it resembles the old works of MORTIIS, with a recognizable ringing sound and a solemn medieval atmosphere. And the diversity in it is more than enough. "Ravenwinds on My Path Towards the Entrance to the Cold and Lonely Mountain" - the reason why this split is worth buying.
