As far as I remember, I'm already familiar with this Australian band. In fact, a couple of years ago I reviewed their album "The Escalation", which, if memory does not betray me, did not appeal to me too much because it was really faceless following of the unholy traditions of primordial extreme metal. Almost nothing has changed: VOMITOR are still totally devoted to their classical inspirers. But "Pestilent Death" sounds more convincingly. Heavy old-fashioned sound, a thunderous knock of the drum kit, performed in an ancient manner, typical for those times when the word "blast-beat" has not yet been invented. High jerky vocals with echo effect. In short, this whole thing reminds me very much of SARCOFAGO, VULCANO and other Latin American old guys. I think that VOMITOR was aimed at it - if you look closely at the album cover, you will see the typical latino artwork in the vein of early 80's. Same goes to the logo's font. Raw, brutal beauty! It is a pity that the songs are not really memorable - perhaps, except "Abracadabra". In terms of compliance with aesthetics, these Australians are certainly more diligent than in the songwriting. But this album is still good, do not miss it.
